從被帶走的那刻起，他們在戶籍簿上被註記「行方不明」，自此成為活著的幽靈、時代的印記。於政治受難者「被消失」的同時，一方面亦宣告受難家屬生命中的「被缺失」。
從1947年二二八事件到解嚴後兩年的1989年，8296名受難者名單中，絕大比例的人都無法好好告別。會客室成為未竟之地，更成為寄語想像的所在。告別是為了再次相見，卻再也不見。
一間會客室、十段聲音/歌曲、十段書寫、一片聽/不見的海、一段屬於你自己的錄音。以時代曲調作為線索重新認識「歷史—時間」，以聲響採集作為共振再次繪測「島嶼—空間」，以書寫拆解敘事而交錯「真實—虛構」。
時間從來不回答，而我們終將發現，沈默的不是時間，而是時間懸置了一切在場，使無聲召喚有聲，在這座島上洄流著時代的聲音。如果能有一次的會面時間，在短短的幾分鐘裡，面對隔著玻璃窗對坐的他/她，那雙無法牽住的手，我們該如何開口⋯⋯
From the moment they were taken away, they were marked in the household registry as “missing,” becoming living ghosts—imprints of an era. As political victims were “disappeared,” their families, too, were cast into a life defined by absence.
From the February 28 Incident in 1947 to 1989, two years after the lifting of martial law, among the 8,296 recorded victims, the vast majority were never given the chance to say goodbye. The visiting room became a place of incompletion, a site for imagined messages. Farewell exists for the sake of meeting again—yet they were never seen again.
A visiting room. Ten voices/songs. Ten writings. A sea that is heard/unheard. A recording that belongs to you.
Using the melodies of an era as a thread, we come to re-encounter “history—time.” Through the collection of sound, we resonate anew with “island—space.” Through writing, we unravel narrative and interweave “reality—fiction.”
Time has never answered. And in the end, we may come to realize that it is not time that is silent, but that time suspends all presence—allowing the voiceless to summon sound, as the echoes of an era circulate across this island.
If there were one chance to meet—just a few minutes—sitting face to face across a pane of glass, unable to hold each other’s hands… how would we begin to speak?
